Honey, I'm good...Really.

Recently, I was driving in my car with the radio on. Now that I have Eli, I try to be careful of what music I play while we're out and about. Flicking through the stations, I heard this super cheesy yet catchy tune. Curious, I decided to give it a listen. And boy, was I surprised! By the end of the song, I was like "THIS IS MY JAM!"

Aren't you all dying to know what the song is? It's titled Honey, I'm good by Andy Grammer (link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go7gn6dugu0)

As I was listening to the lyrics of this song, I couldn't help but think to myself, and now to all of you, "WOW! Finally, somebody gets it!" I can't even remember the last time a current artist wrote a song about loving someONE. You can hear the honesty of himself in the lyrics.

"No, Honey I'm good. I could have another but I probably should not [..] if I stay, I might not leave alone [..] I will stay true."

The truth is SO REAL HERE. We all could have somebody else. That is a temptation that will always be there. We're human. We're going to see somebody else that we think is attractive. You can't just turn your eyes off. But just because that might happen, doesn't mean you need to act on that. Or if you're presented with a situation to be with someone else doesn't mean you need to take it. Loving someone is a constant choice. My husband and I always say that when we said yes and I do to each other, we said no and I won't to anybody else. That isn't a choice made simply on your wedding day. It's a commitment to live that. Every. Single. Day. for the rest of your lives.

How well do you know yourself? How well do I know myself? In the next line Andy is saying  he knows if he stays around this other woman, something will happen. Can we be that honest with ourselves? It takes a real man to know himself and be honest about it. He knows where he's weak and he knows better than to keep himself in a compromising situation. And at the end, he reminds himself and her, you know what, I'm going to be true. I'm going to stay faithful. That's my choice. I know myself and despite of myself, I'm going to honor my woman.

Everything about this song is so backwards and opposite of what our society is teaching young people today. It goes against every cool thing. And that's exactly what's wrong with our world! There are not enough Andy's standing up and saying what needs to be said. I'm so sick and tired of this new liberal Christianity where we're suddenly not saved and not "loving" the world cause the truth is offensive against their life style. Sometimes love and the truth need to hurt you to save you. Sorry for the bunny trail, I'll save that tangent for my next blog ;)

YOUNG PEOPLE! SINGLE PEOPLE! MARRIED PEOPLE! This is for you. This is for me. Know yourself. Know yourself well enough to know where you're weak. Don't allow that to become an excuse. Use it despite of yourself. Learn how to love...really love someone. Learn how to be faithful in every situation. Live the promises you made. Honor your significant other. And let's get real here for a minute too. You don't start honoring your spouse once you know who they are. It starts way before then. If you're single, this still applies to you. Honor yourself and your future spouse with the decisions you're making now.

Let's all jump on the Andy Grammer band wagon. My new favorite motto certainly is, "No, Honey...I'm good." Because that is the truth. I have all that I need in ONE person. My husband. Honey, I'm good with just you. Here's to learning to love you right...everyday.
